This is a superb quality Walnut Wellington Chest dating to Circa 1860 with a wonderful provenance. The Chest has a beautiful Patina with rich walnut veneer and internal Mahogany lined drawers. The lockable pilasters enclose seven graduated drawers and the condition is excellent. My master restorer polished this piece and remarked that it was one of the nicest Wellington Chest he ever worked on. We believe this piece is from the collection of The Boer War General, Sir Thomas Kelly-Kenny, the first Irish Catholic to be made a Lieutenant General in The British Army. Thomas Kelly-Kenny was born in Kilrush Co. Clare in 1840.
